Gentoo startx xfs error.

X dies with message: “Could not init font path element unix/:7100”

You probably used your XF86Config file from a Red Hat system. Red Hat uses TCP port 7100 for its font server, while Gentoo does not. Find the line in your XF86Config file that says: ‘FontPath “unix/:7100”’ and comment it out. I don’t know why, but my Gentoo system seems to be running great without a specified font path. I have heard that changing the port number to -1 also works.
